Enjoy The Silence

Life in high school is a hectic round of expectations that gets old real fast because the expectations are mostly from people who don't get that the hoops to be jumped through are pointless and smack of an older time.

In the olden days, teens (at least if you were 17 going on 18), put in a day's work and had a pint afterwards. You might get some lessons, but that was for those who'd become teachers (though by this time, many were already teaching) or doctoring or lawyering. There was no homecoming queen or any other silliness.

Teens of today find their days loaded with so many things in the name of "good parenting." They miss the point of taking a day, just to do nothing.

Nick is a big believer in taking a day. He took as many as he could.

Aside III

One of the funnier encounters I had concerning the "new style" Archie comics had to do with a boy who was about 14 who overheard a conversation I and my friend had about the new look and the boy exclaimed, "It's wrong! It's just wrong! I don't know why they changed it. It's wrong!"

An Aside-Part III

I was at Borders Books looking at the comics and manga and what did I see but a Betty and Veronica comic.

It was the "revamp" that I read about on Yahoo.

The article also mentioned that the publishers of Archie Comics were trying to get a singing duo to change their name from the Veronicas because they did not want any potential negative publicity to affect the sales of their books.

What did I see printed above the title but that the issue contained a CD of the latest hit from the Veronicas.

I thought the legal action on the part of Archie Comics was dumb. I suppose I am glad to see that they thought so too.
